Alakija’s aversion

$

Africa’s richest woman and business mogul, Folorunsho Alakija, is a stunner any day. The once-upon-a-time fashion designer has a good knowledge of trends and never fails to put it to good use whenever she dresses up.

Although her wardrobe boasts an assorted array of clothes and accessories which she wears to functions, Alakija seems not to have caught the aso-ebi bug. Unlike many of her ilk, she is not given to the ‘party uniform’ craze which is why she is always uniquely clad at functions she attends. She never wears any chosen at most functions she attends thus leading many to believe she has a pronounced aversion for the trend.

Ajibola and Bisola Ajimobi are two sisters who are bound by not just blood but their love for high-end fashion and the good life. Both blessed with fit frames, coupled with eye-catching beauty, they make it difficult for other guests to take their eyes off them whenever they are spotted at an outing.

While Ajibola isn’t as outgoing as the latter, she still manages a few appearances and leaves lasting impressions. A sought-after spinster, very little is known about her love life ever since her last relationship, which many believed would lead to marriage, drew to a close.

Abisola, on the other hand, is friends with several international celebrities including Kelly Rowland. A retailer of high-end designer shoes, she recently held two expensive celebrations in quick succession. First, it was her wedding anniversary that was elaborately celebrated and another party to commemorate her daughter’s first birthday.

Widely referred to as the scion of the Ibru dynasty, Olorogun Oskar Ibru is also a socialite. Not many will forget in a hurry that wondrous celebration that was staged to commemorate his 50th birthday. A lover of the good things of life, there is no doubt that he loves to celebrate with friends when the occasion demands. As such, he rarely turns down their invites. On the strength of this, not a few hearts skipped a beat or two when he ceased to make the party rounds a few months ago. This prolonged disappearance from major celebrations hosted by his ilk gave rise to speculation about what might have warranted his absence. The most bandied story bordered on his health. Though unconfirmed, close watchers were almost certain it was true.

Last weekend, he made a big comeback to the social arena when he attended the 50th birthday party of Rita Emerhor. At the groove, which held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, he was his usual bubbly self and was attired in traditional Urhobo garb.

Despite tales of a storm in their union, Wosilat and Demola Seriki were spotted together during the launch of Cartier by Polo. Ever her beautiful self, Wosilat looked elegant in a black dress, which sat well on her tall frame. Her beau, on the other hand, settled for a plaid blazer, which took some years off his age.

It was not difficult to tell that the American-trained accountant still had eyes for his wife as they doted on each other while the event lasted. Not only did they sit together, they repeatedly whispered into each other’s ears like high-school lovebirds. The sociable sister of the Eleganza boss, who was in high spirits at the soiree, was seen introducing her husband to some of the guests present.

One thing you can’t take away from the children and grandchildren of the late Mr. and Mrs. F. I. Ajumogobia, parents of a former Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Odein Ajumogobia, is their love for music.

Every year, since 2006, they have staged an annual Christmas concert in their memory. As in all previous years, it largely revolves around musical performances by members of the extended Ajumogobia family and reflects their late parents’ appreciation for a wide variety of music including instrumentals, classical, choral, highlife, jazz and traditional folk music.

However, what is striking is the dexterity with which each member of the family, headed by the former Attorney-General of Rivers State, Odein Ajumogobia SAN, who plays the piano among other instruments. His kids, Feni, Soemineta, Awune and Otokini, are also not left out in this rare display of musical talent.

They are the beautiful wives of the twin singing sensation, Psquare. Lola and Anita can very well pass for sisters going by the bond they share. Lately, both ladies have been attending events together and sharing pictures with their followers on Instagram. Lola, who is a graduate of Theatre and Film from the San Francisco University in the United States, is older than the calm-natured Anita. Often stepping out in classic pieces that are picked by the same stylist, they are rarely spotted on the red carpet with their better halves. This duo appears quite comfortable in each other’s company. At a recent event, they were the cynosure of all eyes as they chatted away like close buddies.
