He is the Chairman/Chief Executive, Young Shall Grow Motors. The multi-billionaire businessman was attacked by suspected assassins last year. His driver and police escort, narrowly escaped death. This incident must have made him abstain from attending social activities.

But Vincent Obianodo seems to have got his groove back. He was a guest at the recently-held Ezennas talk-of-the-town wedding.

Hosted by Tony Ezenna, chairman, Orange Drugs, Obianodo was in high spirits and exchanged banters with the likes of CEO Coscharis Ltd, Cosmos Maduka; CEO Sophisticat, Lanre Ogunlesi; Managing Director, UBA, Phillips Odouza and oil and gas magnate, Mofe Boyo. His attendance has been described as his return to the social scene in grand style.

A man of means, he is being hailed in many quarters as a trailblazer in Nigeria’s transport sector. With interests in hospitality, oil and gas, property, and lots more, Obianodo, sits atop blue chip firms.

Ever since Quincy Ayodele handed her business over to her daughter, Tobi, in March this year, not much has been seen or heard of her. Fondly referred to as queen of herbs, she was present at the Genevieve Pink ball with one of her daughters. Though in her early 50s, the advocate of herbal slimming products looked quite trim for her age.

For a while, former Minister of National Planning Commission of Nigeria and later, Minister of works, disappeared from the Lagos social scene. Though the trained architect, who is of a laudable pedigree, resides in Abuja with his wife, Aisha, he used to attend parties, especially weddings in Lagos and environs.

But just as many wondered where he was, he stepped back into the spotlight when he surfaced recently at a highly publicised society wedding ceremony in Lagos. He was looking every inch hale and hearty.

Between Gladys Ndubuisi-Kanu and Nkiru Anumudu

This is a tale of two style stars who are ageing gracefully. They are no pushovers in any social circle and they are designer label connoisseurs. For Gladys Ndubuisi-Kanu, the fashionable wife of Rear Admiral Ndubuisi-Kanu, a former military governor of Imo and Lagos States respectively, all that glitters is gold. Fair-complexioned with a figure which does not indicate that she is 60-something years old, her gorgeous dress sense is unequalled.

Not many can ignore her penchant for eye-popping accessories. When she dons either a fascinator or hat, she becomes a headturner. She accessorises her head, neck, feet and hands. The gorgeous grandmother is one of the few to have fingernails accessorised with gold crystals!

Nkiru Anumudu is the amiable but fashionable wife of Willy Anumudu, an auto magnate. She needs no introduction at any event — her gorgeous appearance does the talking. From head-to-toe, she emits designer labels. Known to buy fashion pieces off the runway, she is a ‘limited edition’ freak! Her fascinators and hats are one-of-a kind. Not known to wear any attire twice on any occasion, the 50-something-year-old is an accessory addict too.

Roli Uduaghan wears new look at 53

Even if the Delta State First Lady, Mrs. Roli Uduaghan, does not rank among Nigeria’s most stylish governors’ wives, she has not failed to always look good. While she opts for clothes that suit her frame, she is more often than not, attired in traditional clothes, whose designs are reminiscent of the south-south region.

A devout Christian, the mother of two stunned many style watchers recently when she had a makeover/photo shoot. A popular Lagos celebrity make-up artist, Banke Meshida, was said to have clinched a contract for the makeover session. Opting for a peach and wine floor-length number, she sealed the look with a very subtle make-up whilst keeping her jewellery very simple.

Blessed with youthful looks, her svelte figure nailed the look. In recent times, her wardrobe has no doubt undergone a total overhaul as evident in the several understated elegant pieces she currently adorns.

Nana Otedola’s new past time

She is the wife of oil and gas magnate, Femi Otedola. Not one to be seen at just any social circles, the soft-spoken but very stylish Nana, steps out when necessary. She does this in a grand style.

However, one area she does not joke with is her daughter, DJ Cuppy’s, music career. Ever the supportive mother, she is fondly called Mummy Cupcakes by the 21-year-old star disc jockey. Nana is also the number one fan and regular caller at some of the high-gigs her daughter performs. While many are quick to attribute DJ Cuppy’s quick rise to fame to her pedigree, it is not difficult to spot the role of her doting parents and her dexterity on the turntable as possible factors too.

Though the wedding date is yet to be made public, the billionaire businessman-cum-politician continues to finance the jet-set lifestyle of his fiancee.

Jim Ovia steps out with wife

Except you are a keen observer, you may not have noticed that one of the best hands in Nigeria’s banking industry, Jim Ovia, has been keeping a low profile. As opposed to some of his ilks, who have been visible in the scheme of things in national and social circles, the same cannot be said of Ovia, who cherishes his privacy so much that he chose to host his daughter’s wedding in London in August 2013.

He made an appearance at a recently-held wedding, dressed in a dark-hued suit, in company with his wife. Despite hardly seen in native attire, the multi-millionaire and founder, Zenith Bank Group, makes a stylish appearance on any given occasion.

It was the most-talked-about wedding. A no-expense-spared ceremony, Lagos socialite, Shade Alesh, would always prove that she is the one to beat in staging high octane shindigs. Last weekend in Lagos, her son, Olajuwon Abdul-Azeez, and his bride, Adejoke, wedded. It was, indeed, a fusion of influence and affluence, as the bride is also the daughter of a prominent Lagos fabric merchant and a very good friend of Alesh.

The star-studded wedding which attracted top echelon of the society and artistes alike, had the trappings of a world-class event. From the aso-ebi, which was said to have cost N300, 000 each, to the automated food vending machine and the decoration, many guests at the ceremony were in awe of the splendour and show of wealth.

A well-connected businesswoman, Alesh, the groom’s mother, has been trading in jewellery for over a decade and has her store located inside the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Lillian Bach resurfaces

As the first face of Delta Soap, the half Polish, half Nigerian actress, Lillian Bach, has always been in the news. She went off the scene a few years ago, shortly after breaking off her relationship with actor, Johnson Davidson. Having made a brief appearance in 2012 during the premiere of her Yoruba movie, Eletan, not much has been seen or heard about her movie and business exploits.

However, she was sighted lately at a society wedding in Lagos. Dressed to the nines, the once slim actress runs a lingerie store and film production company. Obviously, she has added weight and was seen exchanging banters with friends and guests at the shindig.
