She remains a stylist to many celebrities. For Veronica Odeka, it is obvious she is out to prove that not even pregnancy can prevent her from being trendy. Odeka, who has Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji and media entrepreneur, Mo Abudu, on her clientele list, continues to rock her baby bump with panache, by stepping out in super stylish maternity outfits.

The mother of two boys recently stepped out at the Elite Model Look 2014, in a tassel-detailed dress, which caught the attention of many guests at the event. She has been dressing up her baby bump gorgeously and focuses on the right hues and pieces all the time. Lately, Vero upped her ante when she opened the first official stylists’ showroom in Nigeria, the Vane Style Showroom.

Marie Fatai-Williams glows

She is not one to be seen at many society shindigs. She was, however, spotted looking resplendent in the aso-ebi at Sen. Florence Ita-Giwa’s daughter’s talk-of-the-town wedding last Saturday. She was bubbly and all smiles, as she chatted and danced away at the wedding. Not a fan of outlandish outfits, Dame Fatayi-Williams, whose only son, Anthony, was killed in 2005 on a bus in London during a blast, settled for a soft pink make-up which blended perfectly with her fuchsia pink and silver head-tie. She completed the look with a silver neckpiece, which had a touch of emerald green in it.

Her father, Ade Kazeem founded the now defunct fast food chain, Kas Chicken that reigned supreme in the 80s and 90s. Quite stylish and friendly, her pedigree also influenced her social clout.

But Shade suffered several setbacks after her father was murdered some years back and was out of the social scene. This made her slow down on her socialising activities and she hardly attended events save for one or two organised by her ilks. A friend of Mo Abudu, she was sighted last year at the EbonyLife TV launch in Lagos and was part of the elite gathering.

Recently, at Mo Abudu 50th birthday shindig held in Lagos, Shade Kazeem was sighted again. Looking delectable in a green number, not a few wondered what she has done to her body to have looked trim and pretty.

When news broke that Hollywood’s hottest hunk and America’s Next Top Model judge, Rob Evans, was coming to Nigeria, many were excited. But nobody reckoned that some ladies would fall over themselves in open show of admiration for the handsome 26-year-old underwear model.

Not long after arriving Port-Harcourt where he was to participate in the Native and Vogue Fashion Week last Saturday, a crowd of autograph and selfie-seeking ladies swarmed him until he had to be forcefully taken to the dressing room by his bodyguards. After modelling for London-based Nigerian fashion designer, Ade Bakare, Evans sneaked backstage to escape clinging female fans. But as soon as he got there, Nigerian model and television host, Eku Edewor held him down in what appeared to be an intimate conversation for some minutes until they were interrupted.

With all the attention from the ladies, it was a surprise to many to hear Evans, who was America’s supermodel, Tyra Bank’s heartthrob, saying he had no love life.

It was a gloomy year for families of the late M.I.C boss, Tunji Okusanya. The late undertaker, his son and four other staff were part of the victims of the October 3, 2013 plane crash. The Akure-bound ill- fated plane had the remains of late Ondo State governor, Olusegun Agagu and many others including Deji Falae.

To mark their memories, the Okusanya family, last week, established a garden and dedicated it in honour of father and son. The company is now headed by Bolanle, the deceased’s first child, a renowned make-up artist.

It’s no longer news that the Esama of Benin, Sir Gabriel Igbinedion, recently turned 80 and had a week-long celebration to mark the milestone age.

The Esama, who did not look an inch close to 80, was also said to have ordered a new wonder ride to celebrate this milestone.

A man of style, he arrived the birthday thanksgiving service alongside his wife, Lady Cherry, driven in a cart. Garbed in royal attire, he was accompanied to the service by his children; grandchildren, a retinue of aides and a handful of admirers and praise singers.

In her lifetime, Remi Osholake aka Remi Lagos, was a phenomenal designer. She was celebrated within and outside her industry. That explains the widespread grief that enveloped high society when she passed away two years ago leaving behind a flourishing trade and her only sibling, Tomi, who resides abroad.

Following the former’s death, not a few people wondered aloud what would become the fate of her business empire. There are strong insinuations that the building that hosts Remi Lagos in Surulere has been sold. The building which was renovated lately was owned by the deceased mum, Stella Osholake who was a popular musician in her heydays.

As one of the entrants into the golden club this year, former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Titi Oseni, threw a befitting 50th birthday bash on September 30. Held at the civic center, Lagos, she spared nothing at ensuring that guests had a swell time.

Curiously, the absence of her estranged husband, Kunle, didn’t go unnoticed. Also, not a few guests wondered why former Ogun State governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, was absent at the birthday of Oseni, who was a Speaker during his tenure. Clad in a champagne-coloured bejewelled gown and a cute up-do, the chubby birthday girl kicked off the celebration with a thanksgiving service at the RCCG King’s Court, Ikeja. Some of the guests at the black-tie event were, Dr. Jimi Agbaje; Dr. Doyin Abiola, Prince Bolu Akin-Olugbade and a host of many others.

There is no denying the fact that the former NTA Director, Grace Egbagbe, is indeed a stylish woman. A sucker for timeless fashion pieces, she has, for many years, remained a constant figure on the social scene on account of her classy and ageless looks. At the recent talk-of-town-wedding of Sen. Rocking a richly embellished fuchsia pink sleeveless dress, she completed the look with a dainty hat. She was the cynosure of all eyes at the high-octane event alongside her daughter, Zemaye.

Dressed in a blue evening dress, Chigul was the cynosure of eyes as she posed for shots on the red carpet and then walked up the podium to receive her award.
