Lola Abiola-Edewor is the daughter of the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, late MKO Abiola. Owing to her pedigree, she made an inroad to politics and was a member of the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2007.

Having failed to secure a return ticket, she was fortunate to be appointed an Executive Director in the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation by President Goodluck Jonathan. Despite the lull her political career suffered, Lola seems to be back in the limelight. Already, she has been sighted in a few gatherings and many are beginning to wonder if she wants to give politics another shot.

RMD causes stir

Veteran Nollywood actor and Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Richard Mofe-Damijo, caused a stir on social media some days back when a supposed picture of him looking emaciated went viral. The picture led many to insinuate he was suffering from a terminal illness.

In spite of repeated denials from close friends and family, RMD, as he is fondly called, caused an even greater stir at the service of songs/tribute night hosted in honour of Amaka Igwe, a film producer. He seemed to have received the highest number of enquiring stares despite the fact that he looked trim and healthy in his well-cut suit.

Meanwhile, veteran actress, Bukky Ajayi, who seems to be one of the oldest women in Nollywood, was present at the evening of tributes which held at the Haven Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos. Not a few guests were surprised when she could not recognise RMD, who she acted with in some movies. She drew closer for a better view before RMD quickly rounded off his interview with reporters and gave her a hug.

These were the darlings of viewers for many years when they were newscasters at the Nigerian Television Authority.

Now elites, the duo of Ruth Benamaisia-Opia and Sienne Allwell-Brown, who, often attend functions in company with Kehinde Young-Harry, were guests at the late Sir Michael Otedola’s funeral reception.

Sienne and Ruth, who, this year, have taken a somewhat backseat in the party circles, resurfaced at the party in a grand style.

Dressed in the latest fashion that depicted their in-depth knowledge of current trends, they had the attention of other guests when they danced heartily to the music of ace musician, King Sunny Ade.

Remember her? She was thrust into the limelight in 2007 when she participated in the Bank PHB-sponsored business reality television show, The Intern. While the show lasted, she was a favourite of viewers on account of her brilliance coupled with her alluring looks.

Even though she did not emerge tops in the keenly contested show, she placed third and took up an offer of automatic employment with the show’s lead sponsor. Since then, she has also plied her trade with Keystone Bank and Samsung Electronics to mention but a few.

Recently, while Nigerians were commemorating Democracy Day, the brown-eyed beauty quit spinsterhood. She got married to her long-time friend, George Ogan, at an impressive traditional wedding ceremony in Lagos. In attendance were the crème of society who came to felicitate with the new couple and their families.

For upwards of four years, luxury goods merchant, John Obayuwana, and Enemaya Lawani, have been an item. In spite of the age difference that exists between the pair, their romance has waxed stronger. Though they have tried to be discreet about their romance, they tend to let go sometimes.

One of such times was at a recent wedding in Lagos. Hosted by the Osipitan/Ajanlekoko families, the party held at a posh venue. Even though they arrived separately, John and Ene were all over each other at the wedding. It was easy to tell they are smitten by each other.

It will not be foolhardy to say that Ife Otedola, a.k.a, DJ Cuppy, is one of the most popular disc jockeys in Nigeria. While many have attributed the quick rise to fame to her dexterity on the turntable, others have simply attributed it to her pedigree.

Notwithstanding, she is well-loved within and outside the industry and has a cult-like followership. A silver spoon kid, she takes delight in travelling to exotic vacation spots. Currently vacationing in the Bahamas, she put up several pictures on her Instagram page.

She had her five minutes of fame when she engaged in a sizzling relationship with Lanre Nzeribe. The latter, who, in the past, had dated the likes of Grace Egbagbe and Monalisa Chinda, operated a hangout together with the former.

Things went awry for the both of them and not only did they sever their business relationship; their romantic liaison was dealt a terrible blow, thus leaving Folake distressed and hardly visible at social events. The break-up was celebrated on the pages of tabloids and magazines.

But lately, Folake has been wearing a new glow, which many attributed to recent developments in her life. Apart from making a return to the social scene which she long abandoned, there is an obvious hint of luxurious living around her.

Lagos State governorship aspirant and Managing Director of DHB Construction Ltd, Hakeem Alobo-Bakare, was 56 last Wednesday.

Unlike previous years when he rolled out the drums and celebrated in no small measure with family and friends, this year, the socialite turned politician shunned any form of celebration.

It was said he refused to celebrate in line with the nation’s sombre mood, particularly the abduction of over 200 girls by Boko Haram.

Recently, the reserved couple stepped out together at a function in Lagos. They were the cynosure of eyes at the 50th birthday party of Alero Imo. While Mamemo wore native attire, his wife settled for a simple dress.

Edo State-born Rosemary Osula, a.k.a, Rosula, was a prominent businesswoman during the late General Sani Abacha regime. She benefitted immensely from him and was close to the likes of Lieutenant General Jeremiah Useni (retd).

It was alleged that some of her businesses ran into troubled waters and she was forced to abort some of her projects including the factory at Ibafo, Ogun State. Even her business premises located on a popular street in Surulere, Lagos, was alleged to have been taken over by a bank.

Also, the mother of one boy, Ver, was dragged to court in 2007 by her estranged hubby, Buruji Kashamu, over alleged child trafficking.

Osula, who shuttles Lagos, Abuja and Benin, has over the years maintained an unusual silence. Many are wondering what had gone wrong with the pretty businesswoman.

Still on Buruji Kashamu’s companion

Not too long ago, a politician, Buruji Kashamu, attended the wedding of Olamiju and Hadiza Akala which held in Lagos. Ordinarily, Kashamu, a Peoples Democratic Party’s chieftain, is a personality that attracts attention wherever he goes on account of his antecedents within the political circles.

On this particular occasion, all eyes were on him for reasons other than his political record. He attended the event in company with a young mulatto beauty and former model, Susan Lever, who is at least two decades younger than he is.

While it is not clear if the duo is actually married, what is certain is that they have a son together. The two-year-old boy is named Rahmani and bears a resemblance to his father except that he took after his mother’s complexion.

Buruji is believed to be responsible for the very comfortable life Susan and Rahmani live. This was quite visible when Susan’s younger sister, Millinda Akindele, got married.

These are certainly happy times for the incoming Ekiti State First Lady, Feyi Fayose. The mother of four boys, who was said to have predicted her husband, Ayo Fayose’s victory at the polls, is gearing towards taking her place at the Government House come October 2014.

Many will attest to her easy-going ways when she previously occupied the seat about eight years ago. A devout Christian, who is known not to favour jewellery, make-up or ostentatious dressing of any kind, has a predilection for the social media. Her favourite, however, happens to be Facebook. Like her husband, her page is a beehive of activities and more than anything, she loves to post beautiful pictures of herself.

They are socialites and have perfected the habit of attending functions in company with each other. Interestingly, though grandparents, age has not affected their lifestyle. Just like his wife, Sonny favours traditional attire in different fabrics and hues to complement the occasion.

Until she dropped out of circulation a few years ago, Bola Allison was famed on the social and fashion scenes. A renowned jeweller, she catered for the high-end needs of her elite clients. In addition to this, she is also one of the children of Ibidun Allison, a.k.a, Amebo, a veteran actress in the old TV series, ‘Village Headmaster.’

Having made an inroad into the fashion business, Bola, was also sought after by members of the opposite sex who craved her company. She was said to be a spinster.

While there are insinuations that she has relocated abroad, others insist she has simply veered off the scene for reasons best known to her.

Abdullahi Arisekola-Alao’s double misery

$

This oil marketer is one of the many children of the recently deceased Oyo State-born billionaire businessman, Aare Arisekola-Alao. Abdullahi shot to fame when his company was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission with allegedly playing a role in the N1.1bn fuel subsidy fraud.

The businessman, who is still recuperating from the shock of losing his father two weeks ago, had to contend with another loss when his mother, Alhaja Doyin Alao-Arisekola, died in an auto crash last Tuesday.

The deceased, who bore the late Arisekola-Alao two children— Abdullahi and Fatimah—was a successful textile merchant on Lagos Island.

Contrary to widespread belief, the deceased, who was interred at her son’s house in Ibadan, was not the late Arisekola-Alao’s eldest wife but the third.

Her marriage to Arisekola crashed many years ago after which she married an Ikorodu-born socialite, Oladipupo Olorunsogo Anifowoshe, a.k.a, Aye of Africa, whom she also parted ways with in 1995. The union did not produce any child.
