Mimiko’s geek look

Saying that Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko is a conservative when it comes to dressing is stating the obvious. The medical doctor-turned politician has a noticeable predilection for local fabrics and he has them in many hues and shades.

Not exactly a fan of the European trend, Mimiko took a different turn last Monday. He was spotted wearing a pair of geek glasses at the opening of the 14th orientation exercise for Technical Aids Corps in Akure.

Not a few people noted that the glasses made the governor look many years younger.

Nigeria’s former number four man, Dimeji Bankole’s social life suffered a lull a few years back when he ceased to make frequent appearances at public celebrations hosted by his ilk. This is contrary to what obtained during his four-year tenure at the House of Representatives.

A hitherto exuberant Bankole took a backseat in the scheme of things on the social scene for reasons best known to him. The youthful politician made a rare detour from his normal practice when he stepped out last weekend. He was a guest at the coronation ceremony of Honourable Dayo Alebiosu in Ogun State. Looking refreshed, Bankole was at home with the array of guests at the function.

Debbie Hornecker’s whereabouts

$

Remember her? She was quite known on the social scene due to her close friendship with celebrated fashion designer, Data Okorodudu. Then, it was not unusual to see her step out on occasions in company with the latter. Debbie Hornecker also owned Elysee Modelling Agency and there was a time she partnered with Data to organise a modelling competition. She was a fulcrum of support when Data lost her husband in 2010.

Married to a French national, those who wonder where Debbie, whose figure belies her years, is hibernating can now heave a sigh of relief. She is said to have relocated to France with her family a few years ago and occasionally flies into town to spend quality time with family and friends.

That aside, what many can’t seem to stop talking about is her slim silhouette which makes it difficult to believe she is a mother of two teenagers.

A former member of the upper legislature and former Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Joy Emordi is apparently unfazed by the recent happenings in her political career.

A seasoned educationist and grassroots politician, Emordi has obviously put behind past events and is looking into the future already. Recently, the very stylish grandmother attended a function in Lagos. It was a Red Ball party hosted by the Lagos alumni of Queen of Rosary College, Onitsha. She looked elegant and graceful  in her traditional attire.

Seen Gbenga Obasanjo lately?

Gbenga Obasanjo needs little or no introduction. However, for those who are not familiar with his story, he is the controversial son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who accused his father of ignoble things some years ago.

Previously married to former Miss Moji Onabanjo (who is now Mrs. Akinkumi), the marriage crashed amid disreputable allegations. Since then, he is hardly seen at social events.

Last year, there were rumours that Gbenga was a passenger in the crashed aircraft carrying former Governor Olusegun Agagu’s corpse and other passengers.

Though untrue, many deemed it an opportunity for him to break his silence, but alas it was not so. Mum, is still the word from him.

A member of the House of Representatives, Olumide Osoba is also the eldest son of the former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba. Until he was voted into the legislature, Olumide was quite sociable and made the club rounds particularly those situated on the Island in Lagos. All of these soon came to an abrupt end when he embraced politics and became a legislator.

But what many cannot fail to see is the bond that exists between Olumide and his father, who also doubles as his political godfather. It is not unusual to find the duo in company with each other at functions. With the older Osoba taking the lead, the younger Osoba closely follows behind like an obedient lad.

Sally Mbanefo’s humble ways

$

Beautiful and light-skinned, she is the Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation. Since her appointment last June, her ingenuity on the job, just like her beauty, has not gone unnoticed.

A native of Ogwashui-Uku, Delta State, Sally, as she is fondly called by admirers, has a rich curriculum vitae that includes degrees from prestigious institutions and decades of enviable work experience. Add this to her exceptional lineage—her father, Chief George Uwechue, who was a one-time chairman, Body of Benchers, is also the Owelle of Ogwashi-Uku.

So, it came as a surprise to those who beheld Sally recently, when she went on her knees in full public glare! This was to pay homage to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade. The occasion was the celebration of Oodua Festival which took place in the ancient town of Ile-Ife.
