It will be rash to suggest that the Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank, Segun Agbaje, loves to party. Even his wife, Derin’s appearance at grooves hosted by her ilk is far and in between. However, the former chose to differ recently when he attended the 90th birthday of a celebrated industrialist in Lagos.

Looking well turned-out in his grey traditional attire, he was in company with his wife who dazzled in her green wear.

For those who are not familiar with her story, Senami was just an ordinary girl before fate and chance decided otherwise. She was elevated to the big league after she met and started a relationship with a now embattled former state governor from the south-south.

She benefitted in no small measure from the affair and the duo was daring enough to step out together in public a few times. However, long before the travails of the latter peaked, Senami, who was noted for her boisterous lifestyle, decided to adopt a low profile. These days she flaunts her predilection for designer shoes on Instagram.

Amaechi Onyekweli drops out of view

Amy, as she loves to be addressed, is one of the daughters of the former chairman of National Youth Service Corps, Major-General Phillip Onyekweli (rtd).

Her mother, Sola, owns an elitist bridal shop in Lagos.  While her other siblings including Uche and Oby are also well known in the elite circles, Amy seems to have hugged the limelight the tightest. In her early 30s, she relocated to Nigeria over four years ago and worked her way up the social ladder. Now a single mother of one, she dropped out of circulation soon as her baby bump became obvious last year.

Kofi Sagoe savours good times

Remember him? Kofi Sagoe is the estranged husband of famed designer, Deola Sagoe. The union which lasted several years produced three children who have inherited their mother’s creativity.

Although unlike his wife, Kofi kept a low profile while the marriage lasted. He later embraced prominence when their marriage hit the rock. As if that was not enough, he had to exit his plum post at his then father-in-law’s company. For Kofi, who has since remarried, he seems to have rediscovered his social bearing. In recent times he has been sighted    at not a few social gatherings.

Patricia Etteh unwinds

Since she was relieved of her position as the Speaker of the House of Representatives a few years ago, Patricia Etteh  went low profile. The not-so-media friendly Osun State indigene turned a blind eye to all the happenings in the social and political sphere.

Unlike some of her peers who are quick to shake off any political hard luck, Etteh preferred to plot a different route. Apart from keeping away from the social milieu, she enrolled at the University of Buckingham where she is pursuing a postgraduate degree in law which causes her to shuttle between Nigeria and the United Kingdom. Recently, she broke out of her normal routine when she attended the wedding of Abiola Inaolaji , the son of  Ibadan based multimillionaire, Jimoh Inaolaji and Adewunmi, the beautiful daughter of Dr.Iyiola Adelekan, the CEO of Macmillan Books Limited.

These days, the children of Globacom boss, Dr. Mike Adenuga seem to have cut down on their visibility. As if acting a script, the most famous quartet- Oyin, Paddy, Jide and Bella have almost zeroed out of the social scene. Save for the eldest of them, Oyin who made a recent appearance at a food fair in Lagos, Jide only followed suit last week when he was spotted at an upscale hangout in Lagos. Still sought after by the ladies, they appeared unable to take their eyes off him.

It’s no longer news that Taofeeq Okoya is married to Lola Olakunri. Their union which dates back several years is blessed with children. Prior to their union, slender-looking Lola was one of the hottest spinsters in town. In those days, she was a prominent face on the chic scene and her pedigree, akin to her husband’s.

These days her presence on the party scene is not at par with Taofeeq’s. While he seems to be savouring the limelight, she rarely makes an appearance. Like most women married into the Okoya family  including Sophia and Kemi, Lola’s social life is no longer what it used to be.

When Gregory turned 50

It was jubilation time last Sunday when one of  the finest entrepreneurs in the oil and gas industry, Gregory Enahoro turned 50.  Enahoro  who loves to maintain a low profile  and has done so successfully for so many years in spite of his successful run   in the industry chose to roll out the drums to celebrate his attainment. Together with his wife and children, he hosted family and friends to a swell bash at the prestigious MUSON Centre. The black and gold themed event had in attendance the crème of society.

One of the highlights of the event for the birthday boy who is the CEO of Knightsbridge, was a surprise put together by his wife and children. He was serenaded by his favourite gospel group, The Midnight Crew, who delighted him with some of their most popular tracks.

Udoamaka Onuigbo gets her groove back

Her fame grew in leaps and bounds after she was identified as a mistress to former governor, James Ibori. She was tried in the United Kingdom alongside the latter’s sister Christine and both were sent to prison having been found guilty of money laundering offences. On her return to Nigeria, she launched into the social scene briefly when she hosted friends to her birthday party at her Parkview Estate residence and what followed was a withdrawal. A few weeks ago, she decided to shake off the toga of dearth   when she attended a wedding in Lagos. Even though, only a few people took any notice of her, she still had a swell time.

He is the lookalike son of distinguished Lagosian, Chief Molade Okoya-Thomas. Approvingly, he bears striking resemblance to his father both in looks and in deeds. Save for his youthful looks, he could be mistaken for Okoya-Thomas Snr.

It is no longer news that he lost his wife not to long after they got married some years ago. She passed on shortly after she was delivered of twin babies after a brief battle with cancer. Those who are close to Deji will tell you that he adores his kids to no end. A doting father, many are still watching to see when he will give marriage a second shot.
