Things are indeed looking up for Uju Murphy. The leggy beauty and socialite had always been in the news for the right reasons until a few years ago when news of her troubled marriage made the headlines. Not too long after, she and her husband, Murphy Uzohue, spilt.

Uju has since moved on. These days, it is not uncommon to find her having a good time at the numerous gigs she gets invited to. One thing you can’t take away from her is her expensive taste in clothes and matching accessories.

One of the most sought after spinsters, Jennifer Obayuwana, is an executive director in Polo, a luxury store owned by her father, John Obayuwana. In her 30s, it is no longer news that Jennifer, who has made a name for herself, is a mother of one. She was delivered of a baby boy over five years ago.

Although things did not work out between her and her child’s father, Jennifer never shies away from the fact that she is a mother to an adorable son, whose identity she has always shielded.

Until now, only her family and friends were privy to what her son looks like. Some weeks ago, she put up a picture of her mother on Instagram, and also put up an image of her and her son holidaying in Dubai.

Last weekend she was part of a family celebration hosted by the Adelekes. Sina Rambo’s father, Otunba Ademola Adeleke, was honoured with a chieftaincy title. Nenesi turned up for the celebration in an unusual garb. She was dressed in a white iro and buba attire that complemented Sina Rambo’s buba and sokoto.

The editor-in-chief of the now defunct True Love West Africa had her fair share of fame when the magazine graced the newsstands. When many thought the magazine had come to stay, the story took a different turn.

Not one to give up on her dreams easily, the magazine, at the peak of its travails, was rebranded and was renamed Flair West Africa. While many thought the worst was over, the rebranding turned out to be an exercise in futility when Flair ceased to grace the newsstands. Even Bola Attah distanced herself from the social sphere. More than three years after, little has been heard about her.

For the former Kwara State First Lady, Toyin Saraki, turning 50 is a big deal. Obviously, she is not one to allow the attainment go uncelebrated.

For many weeks, there had been several speculations on how she would commemorate five decades. With many postulating that Toyin, who is the founder of Wellbeing Foundation Africa, would host family and friends to a classy soiree, she chose to spring a surprise by opting for an unusual mode of celebration.

Paramount on the line up of activities scheduled to make merry, is a charity programme that will once more bring to fore her love for humanitarian services. Under the auspices of Alaafia Kwara, an initiative she established as a First Lady, she will fete the less-privileged in the state.

In addition to this, friends of Mrs. Saraki, who is a goodwill ambassador of the International Conference of Midwives, have set in motion, plans to honour her in one of the world’s famous capitals. The event will expectedly record the presence of famous personalities from all over the globe.

First class Lagos monarch, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, ranks high in the style department and only a few come close to him. In spite of the fact that his choice of attire is limited, owing to his status, he still pulls all the stops.

A long-time socialite, he was one of the guests at the 80th birthday bash hosted in honour of Chief Femi Olopade recently.

For the occasion, which held in Lagos, Oba Akiolu was dressed in a white agbada, a yellow tasselled cap, a yellow embellished walking stick and matching pair of yellow sandals. Looking dandy with his designer label eyewear, he was the cynosure of eyes.

She is one of the upwardly mobile daughters of the late MKO Abiola. Perhaps one of the most popular of his brood, Tundun, who flaunts a style that would make many go green with envy, was educated in some of the best institutions in the world.

A mother of two, she was previously married to Benue State-born Atama Atta. Many will recollect that their wedding, which   was celebrated in the United Kingdom many years ago, was characterised by luxury. A few years after, the couple fell out with each other and went their separate ways.

Atama, who remarried, is believed to have fallen out with his spouse just six months after their marriage. Those who are in the know and are hopeful of a reunion between him and Tundun might end up being disappointed as she is said not to be interested in mending fences with the father of her children.

While she is not as fashion savvy like her elder sister, Nkiru Anumudu, once-upon-a-time On Air Personality, Nona Adimora’s style cannot be described as run-of-the-mill as she is adequately knowledgeable in that area. A mother of twins, it is no longer news that she used to be married to the father of her children who resides in America.

Nona, who was once the rave of the moment on and off radio, has taken a back seat on the social sphere. Unlike her sister, Nkiru and brother, Obi Adimora, who is fairly famous, Nona, who made a feeble attempt to return to the social scene late last year, has withdrawn into her cocoon.

Not too long ago, she was rumoured have been in a new relationship. While it is not certain what became of the alleged romance, Nona, who now lives in Abuja, has charted a new course for herself.

Not exactly a socialite, Oyinda Adeyemi was fairly popular. At least until she dropped out of the social sphere for reasons best known to her. Her claim to fame goes beyond being a successful businesswoman; she has been romantically linked to ace footballer, Segun Odegbami.

A few years ago, he was in her home town in Ondo to meet with her family. While it is not known if the duo has formalised their union albeit without the attendant publicity, Oyinda’s lessened presence in the social scene is generating idle talk.

Billionaire businessman and Chairman, Louis Carter Group, Izuchukwu Onwugbenu, pulled all the stops last weekend when his eldest son, Emeka, got married.   The bride, Onyinye, is a daughter of another billionaire businessman, Innocent Chukwuma, who owns Innoson Motors. The wedding, which held penultimate Saturday at an elitist location in Lagos, was a follow-up on a grand traditional wedding that took place last April in Nnewi, Anambra State.

The last lap of the formalisation of the union went down in history as one of the most lavish weddings in Nigeria this year. The no-expense celebration was a lesson in class and luxury. Guests, who witnessed the lavish show of affluence, were simply taken in by the breathtaking display. Award-winning artistes, Davido and Flavour, serenaded the couple.

Rivers State-born Lizzy Finecountry- Obaze needs no introduction. Even though she is not always celebrated in the tabloids owing to her reserved conduct, her successful trade speaks for her.

Beautiful and stylish in the real sense of the word, she is one of few   who constantly seek to replicate success. An accomplished entrepreneur, she owns what is easily one of the classiest showrooms in Lagos. She is credited with the ownership of Casa Serenissimo, an   interior decoration and furniture outfit, which has its first showroom in the oil-rich city of Port-Harcourt.

Keen on replicating a greater showing in Lagos, she recently opened another showroom in the centre of excellence. Located on a highbrow street in Victoria Island, the sheer magnificence of the new business premises has elicited interest from many, of its brilliance thus breeding speculations as regards its ownership.

At over 60, Lanre Ojora is one of Nigeria’s most enduring elites. One of the matriarchs of high society, the stylish widow and mother of three was married to late Bade Ojora. The deceased was the younger brother of Otunba Adekunle Ojora.

Many will recollect that Lanre suffered another personal loss when her eldest daughter, Bimbo Babalola, passed on in a plane crash a few years back. The incident forced her out of the social scene for a long while. She only made a return a few years ago.

The last time she was sighted in public before now was when her son, Sola, got married to Kemi Abayomi last year. The famed socialite, whose legendary love for daring fashion is well-documented, made a showing at the funeral party of Mrs. Flora Harold-Sodipo, which was hosted by Olori Ladun Sijuwade.

Attired in bright-coloured attire, she was spotted wearing her signature red lips. She was in company with Abah Folawiyo and Erelu Ojuolape Ojora, her sister-in-law.

Even though she is guarded in her dealings, bachelorette Oyinda Adeyemi has ceased to evade notice.   The Ondo State-born highflier’s aversion for social functions in recent times might not be unconnected to her political affiliation to Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

Not a few people, who are aware that she is a close associate of Atiku, have wondered aloud and otherwise; the reason for such closeness. Unknown to them, Oyinda has always played an active part in his electioneering campaign like she is currently doing.

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Joke Orelope-Adefulire, rarely shows up at social functions in company with her spouse. Indeed, it was a surprise when she attended a social event with him recently.

It was the wedding of Honourable Bayo Osinowo’s daughter, Kehinde, in Lagos. Mr. and Mrs. Orelope were the cynosure of eyes when they stepped out. Suffice to say, necks craned in their directions and many were eager to greet them.
