$

One of the matriarchs of high society, Ngozi Nkoloenyi is not a stranger to the limelight. The accomplished businesswoman cum fashion designer is a prominent face on the social circuit and associates with big names in the society.

But gloom set in for the owner of Bloomingdale, when she lost her husband, Chief Paul Nkoloenyi, about two years ago. Still smarting from his demise, she had reason to smile when one of her sons got married last year. Already, she is preparing to host the cream of society to another lavish groove. This time, her only daughter, Ogechi, will be tying the nuptial knots with Nnamdi Ude-Nwakwesi in a few weeks.

Aleshinloye goes calm

Famed for his socialising prowess, Rilwan Aleshinloye was chairman of Iru/Victoria Island Local Government Development Area. The American returnee was married to prominent businesswoman cum socialite, Sade Adesoye, who was previously known as Sade Alesh in the social circles. Many who witnessed their wedding will not forget in a hurry the glitz that characterised the ceremony.

While Sade, who is the owner of Jewellery Affairs, has since remarried and remains relevant on the social scene, the same cannot be said of her ex-husband— he rarely makes appearances at social events. This development is very unlike what obtained when the going was good between them.

Patrick Koshoni eases pace

His father, Vice Admiral Patrick Koshoni (retd.), was a former Chief of Naval Staff and Minister of Aviation. For Patrick Koshoni Jnr., his pedigree seems to have rubbed off positively on his social leaning.

Married to Karen Koshoni, Patrick, in recent times, has given the social scene a wide berth unlike his wife. Although there is unconfirmed talk that their union is troubled, insiders are of the opinion that the younger Koshoni has busied himself with plans to make his hangout, Miliki, the numero uno fun spot in Lagos.

Fairly controversial, Take is one of the daughters of James Ibori, a former governor of Delta State who is currently serving a jail term in the United Kingdom.

Take, who is single but a mother of one, was in the news a few years ago when her alleged romance with the owner of a hangout in Lagos, almost led to the crash of his marriage.

Dark-skinned and moderately pretty, Take has now embraced politics. Already, plans are underway to ensure she participates in the 2015 elections where she intends to vie for a seat in the Delta State House of Assembly.

She was married to the late Chief Wole Adeosun. An influential personality, he was until his death, chairman, National Pensions Commission.

Theirs was a match made in heaven as the pair was understandably best of friends. Often found in each other’s company, it was easy to find them attending gigs but not without the other in tow. Almost two years after his untimely passing, his wife is yet to shed her garb of sombreness and her longstanding absence is eliciting worry.

Erastus Akingbola’s trim form

He is the former Managing Director of the now defunct Intercontinental Bank PLC. Until he hit troubled waters, Erastus Akingbola was one of the most celebrated bank CEOs in Nigeria.

It is no longer news that he is currently in a running battle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ever since allegations of financial misdeeds were levelled against him. Not only has his social routine suffered a decline, his frame has also suffered the same. His previously robust frame has given way to a trim silhouette. While many have attributed it to his still-existent troubles, others are of the opinion that it is a deliberate keep-fit measure.

Iyel Imoke is the governor of Cross River State, and he is married to Obioma. Being saddled with the responsibility of handling a state, one would think that he does not have time for pleasure. He proved many wrong last weekend.

Hanging out last Sunday at the Tinapa Studios, Calabar, were the governor, his wife and children. This was during the first anniversary of Ebony Life Television, owned by Mo Abudu. The event which was tagged ‘Studio Experience’, drew guests from far and near.

For the Imokes, it was ‘revelation’ time as they talked about their 22-year-old marriage. According to the governor, he first proposed to Obioma when he was 15 and promised to marry her at 30. A man of his words, he got married to her at that age. An elated First Lady was all smiles and did not hide her excitement as she took to the dance floor with Mo Abudu.

Alake Dare celebrates

Foremost businesswoman and one of the matriarchs of high society, Alake Dare, is not your typical socialite. Very refined in her ways, this gorgeous Ondo State-born sister of Erelu Ojuolape Ojora is as gorgeous as they come. Blessed with an intimidating physique and attractive complexion. Suffice to say that her daughter, Timi Ejiwunmi, a celebrity wedding planner, has inherited the former’s entrepreneurial spirit.

An advocate of classy celebrations, not many will forget in a hurry, the A-class wedding ceremony she staged when Timi got married to Bode Ejiwunmi a few years ago. An even grander celebration took centre stage last weekend when her son, Bayo, wedded Zaneta. The out-of-town wedding was spectacular in the real sense of the word as no cost was spared.

Renowned body enhancement expert, Modupe Ozolua, is a proud mum. Even though she is a newsmaker, she has consciously shielded her immediate family from the limelight until now.

Ozolua, who turned 40 last year, is in a joyous mood and her reason is not far-fetched. Her son, Seun, graduated from high school recently. The mother of one, who could not contain her joy, took to Instagram to celebrate his achievement. She posted several pictures of him in his academic gown. What more? She also seized the opportunity to flaunt her relationship with multi-billionaire Bini chief, Sir Gabriel Igbinedion and his wife, Lady Cherry. Ozolua described them in a post as her son’s guardians.

Among her siblings, her popularity ranks next to that of her elder sister, Abisola Kola-Daisi, who owns a luxury store. Ajibola Ajimobi is the daughter of the Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi. Although she is not as outgoing as the latter, she still manages a few appearances.

A sought-after spinster, very little is known about her love life ever since her last relationship, which many believed would lead to marriage, drew to a close. Penultimate weekend, she made one of her very rare appearances at a fashion meet and need we say she was the cynosure of eyes? Her fit frame, coupled with her eye-catching beauty, made it difficult for other guests to take their eyes off her.

This ageless trio!

Though not of the same age, they are ageing gracefully and appear not ready to wane fashion wise. Spotted at the venue of Chief Ogunshola’s 70th birthday last weekend, the Yeye Oge of Lagos and Consul of the Republic of Liberia, Chief Opral Benson, was all vitality and youthful elegance as she moved around, exchanging pleasantries with guests. Not many would believe she clocked 79 years in February. This wife of late first Republic Information Minister, T.O.S Benson, does not look a minute older than 70. Dressed in a white guipure lace, she nailed the look with a hat and exotic accessories.

For Chief Onikepo Akande, who will hit 70 years in a few months, nothing gives her age away. She seems to be ageing backwards! Dressed in a coffee brown/cream beaded lace, she completed the look with a fascinator of same hue. Known for exquisite jewellery, she was the cynosure of eyes at the high octane shindig.

Last but not the least of the trio is Maiden, wife of Alex Ibru, the late publisher of Guardian newspapers. She will be 65 years come November but her glowing complexion and stunning figure do not depict her age. Quite fashionable, she attracted attention in her champagne hued attire.

In the oil and gas industry, he is a household name. Though he works harder than he parties, it does not affect his relevance on the social scene. A native of Agbor, Delta State, his other business interests include   telecommunications, maritime, aviation and real estate.

The Chief Executive Officer of Taleveras Group, Sanomi began to make waves in the late 90s when he became an Executive Director with Cosmos Oil AG, an international oil trading company.

Also a philanthropist, the businessman recently added a year and is set to hold a big bash to commemorate this. Already, the social scene is agog with the news of the impending celebration, which, going by feelers, will give a new meaning to the word luxurious.

It is no longer news that former Miss Lux, Ibidun Ighodalo, has kept a low profile for over a year until recently when she stepped out of her cocoon. While she was away, the ex-beauty queen, who is married to Pastor Ituah Ighodalo gave room to all kinds of speculations on what may have led to her long absence.

This was the state of things until a month ago when her Facebook page became active again. In addition to that, she made public her latest business venture. A renowned event planner, Ibidun, who runs Elizabeth R, added an event venue to her list of business endeavours. Called the Dorchester, Ibidun seems set to embrace the party scene again.

As if to prove to doubting Thomases that she is back for good, Ibidun put together and attended the wedding of Feran and Wole Sonuga which held in Lagos penultimate weekend.

Looking robust, the pastor’s wife was elegant in her purple traditional wear which was teamed with a matching set of diamond jewellery. Without stating the obvious, she was the cynosure of eyes next to the couple.
