Tunji Olowolafe, trained as a medical doctor but he is a major investor in public-private partnership infrastructure projects. He served as chairman of Lekki Concession Company and is also the chairman of Deux Project Limited.
During the eight-year tenure of former Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, Olowolafe’s companies enjoyed a generous patronage from the state government. He was said to have had the ears of Fashola, who also doubled as his pal.
Not many knew the extent of his social clout and wealth until his daughter, Olanike, got married to Afolabi Anani, at a grand wedding which held in London, last year.
Olowolafe attracted the presence of the crème of society, most of who flew to London from Lagos and other parts of the world to felicitate with the couple and their families. Dele Momodu, Honourable Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Senator Ganiyu Solomon, Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, Eyimofe Atake SAN, Oba Saheed Eleguishi, and Dapo Abiodun to mention but a few were part of the lavish celebration. Guests were serenaded by Iyanya, DJ Caise, Emma Nyra, Tiwa Savage and Davido.
More often than not, Olowolafe is often seen in company with those that call the shots in government. Not even the expiration of Fashola’s tenure has whittled down his influence like many predicted.
