He is one of the sons of the Esama of Benin, Sir Gabriel Igbinedion, and perhaps one of the most popular. A few years ago, he was in the news when he wedded his Ethiopian wife at a lavish ceremony that spanned several days.
Fred who has somewhat kept a low profile in recent times was in the news recently when he was convicted by a Federal High Court in Benin. He was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on an 81-count charge including money laundering, misappropriation of funds, conspiracy and abuse of office. He was sentenced to a three-year jail term with an option of fine.
Certainly unruffled by the judgement, Michael, was in his finest elements at a party hosted in Benin recently. For most of the time, he was on his feet dancing.
