Penultimate week was a special day for former captain of Ikoyi Club 1938, Uyi Akpata. His friends and colleagues gathered to celebrate his elevation to the position of Country Senior Partner of the PricewaterhouseCoopers, an audit and tax services firm. His new role also extends to other West African countries.
Akpata, a chartered accountant and alumnus of the University of Lagos, took over from Ken Igbokwe.
At a cocktail party organised to host Igbokwe and Akpata by a legal firm, Aelex, not a few prominent Nigerians turned up to felicitate with them.
Held at the Metropolitan Club, Ikoyi, Lagos, the event had in attendance, the Chief Executive Officer, the United Bank for Africa, Phillip Oduoza; the President, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Segun Aina; Director, African Finance Corporation, Segun Akin-Olugbade; a legal practioner and partner at Aelex, Theophilus Emuwa; his wife, Angela and a host of other prominent Nigerians.
It was indeed a merry occasion for Akpata, Igbokwe and the guests as they exchanged.
