She is the former First Lady of Lagos State. Her stoic comportment in public has always served as an inspiration to many young women in Nigeria. Always appearing as a symbol of feminine strength and grace, it was a surprise to many when the wife of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, got emotional recently.
It was at the 2013 edition of Women of Wellness, a cancer awareness charity ball held in Lagos. Deeply touched by the story of the United Kingdom based beauty therapist, Eryca Freemantle, Tinubu demonstrated a side to her that was rarely seen in public.
Freemantle told the guests that she had been a survivor of a fatal accident, five fibroid operations, breast cancer and hip replacement. At the end of her story, Tinubu and other dignitaries including the First Lady of Delta State, Roli Uduaghan, gave Freemantle a bear hug. It was at that point that Tinubu revealed a part of her that struggled with low self-esteem as a young child.
